Prominent Banker Mr. Mohammed Shawkat Jamil is serving as The Managing Director of United Commercial Bank Limited from Nov 12, 2018.
Mr. Jamil Born in a reputed Muslim family in Chittagong in 1958, He has completed his MSS from University of Dhaka in 1982. He started his career as "Probationary Officer" in United Commercial Bank Limited in 1983. He has demonstrated experience in managerial and leadership positions including 21 years as Branch Manager. He had been serving as Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Principal Branch of the Bank, prior to taking over higher responsibility.
He has attended different training programmes and seminars at home and abroad. Among them, the foremost to be mentioned is the month long training programme on “Finance & Banking Management for South Asia Federation of AOTS Alumni Societies” held in Osaka, Japan in 1997. He has also visited many countries including Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia.
Akhter Matin Chaudhury, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh, is one of the Independent Directors & Chairman of Audit Committee of UCB.
Mr. Chaudhury qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1976 in the United Kingdom, where he lived and worked for various organizations for 15 years. He returned to Bangladesh in 1987 to join BOC Bangladesh Ltd., a multinational industrial gases company, where he served in various capacities, including General Manager (Finance) & Company Secretary, and ultimately on the Board as Director (Gases). He left BOC in 1998 to co-found Eshna Consulting Team Ltd., a management consulting company, of which he was the Managing Director.
In 2000, Akhter Chaudhury joined Organon (Bangladesh) Ltd., since renamed Nuvista Pharma Ltd., and has been its Managing Director since 2001, assuming the additional role of Chairman since 2006.
Mr. Chaudhury sits on the Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries and is Vice President of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka.
Akhter Chaudhury takes an active interest in Youth Development. Towards this he is the Chairman of Bangladesh Youth Leadership Centre.
Mr Chaudhury is keen on quality education and lectures MBA and EMBA students on Strategic Planning. He also serves on the Board of Advisers of BRAC Business School at BRAC University.
He played a very pivotal role in restructuring Business model for both SME Banking, Consumer Banking, Branch Network including Trade Services and Cash Management under Central Operations in Prime Bank. He also set up Prime Bank's Retail and SME collection and Special Asset Management model. He firmly contributed in implementation and upgradation of Core Banking, Card Management system and Tier 3 data Center of the Bank.
He was also Head of SME Banking, BRAC Bank and reorganizing small segment and centralization of CRM. He worked for Standard Chartered Bank and successfully launched SME business products there.
He was Head of Medium Business, Standard Chartered Bank, Bangladesh.
Mr. Islam has 35 years of Banking experience, covering in Branch Management, Business process reengineering, and IT integration. In his secondment with ANZ Bank, Melbourne, Australia, he played key role in product and parameter analysis. He was member of core implementation team of system integration for ANZ Grindlays Bank, Bangladesh and India. He started his career at Grindlays Bank in 1984.
Mr. Islam has a Bachelor of Commerce degree and he is also certified 'Credit Professional' from OMEGA in UK organized by Standard Chartered Group, London. He has completed his MBA from University of Liberal Arts, Bangladesh. He attended numerous training courses, seminars, workshops and conferences locally and overseas.
He played pivotal roles in various renowned financial organization i.e. Group Chief Financial Officer of Saad Musa Group of Industries; Director, Finance of Edotco Bangladesh Limited; Managing Director and CEO of Apex Investments Limited; Chief Financial Officer of The City Bank Limited, BRAC Bank Limited etc.
His wide range of expertise covered core banking financial strategy, planning, controlling, AML & treasury mgt. financial accounting and control, budgetary planning & control, risk management, regulatory & legal compliance etc. He attended numerous training courses, seminars, workshops and conferences locally and overseas.
Mr. ATM Tahmiduzzaman FCS, a qualified Chartered Secretary, is the Company Secretary of United Commercial Bank Ltd. He has started his Career with British flagship concern REA Consortium locally known as Deundi Tea & Shaw Wallace Tea.
In the process of career progression, he capitalized the opportunities to work in launching team of Warid Telecom and played active role in the process of establishment of AIRTEL Bangladesh.
Mr. Tahmid, a faculty member of Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB), obtained his Master’s Degree from University of Dhaka. Later on, he obtained MBA under the umbrella of Common Wealth of Learning, the education wing of Common Wealth. In addition, he is a Law Graduate. He has attended many training program and workshops.
Mr. Tahmid is actively playing a vital role to create governance excellence in corporate sector of the Country being the youngest Council Member of ICSB. He is also involved with different socio-cultural organizations.
Mr. Mohammed Rahmat Pasha has joined UCB Capital Management Limited on 27th March 2016 as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Prior to his joining at UCB Capital, he has served as CEO of BRAC EPL Stock Brokerage Ltd for five years.
In 2001. Mr. Pasha has joined BRAC Bank Limited as Head of Treasury and Financial Institutions for ten years. He has also worked for eight years in The City Bank Ltd and for five years in Dutch Bangla Bank Ltd in Retail Banking, Foreign Exchange, Finance and International Division among other divisions before joining BRAC Bank.
Mr. Pasha has grasped a long working experience in Treasury and Financial Institution. He attended numerous training and workshop in both home and abroad. He completed his Post-Graduation in Management from University of Dhaka and MBA from NIBM, Chennai, India.
